have been held with Gamma House having a resounding victory in the
Senior Sports and Alpha House winning the Junior Sports Day by a mere 1
This term we have begun learning Auslan in Years 4-6
as an additional language, replacing German. Auslan is the
language of the Deaf community in Australia. Students are showing
great enthusiasm for learning to sign, and so are teachers, with some
fifteen of our staff now attending an introduction course at the University
of Southern Queensland.
The Commonwealth Game
You know, of course, that the Commonwealth Games will be
held at he Gold Coast this year. At Durack we are playing the
Commonwealth Game, where classes which different countries can win Gold,
Silver and Bronze Medals in many ways. Children are also learning
about the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Microsoft Office 2016 for students and school staff
All Queensland state school
staff and students can now download multiple free copies of
the latest Microsoft Office to their personal home computers
and mobile devices.
Instructions are on the

Prep and Year 1-2 students
and will not know their user name and you can obtain this
from The Office or Mr Ray Poultney, our Teacher-Librarian.
Year 3 students are just starting to use their own personal

Parents can download free
software and printable resources for Handwriting from the Learning Place.
You can print from your home PC
or MAC in the same style as Queensland school students learn to write,
the same style as the teachers use on the whiteboards and worksheets.
There are also handwriting practice sheets and books you can print and use.
