At Durack State School we implement the Australian Curriculum in order to develop our students as 'successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens'.
The national curriculum comprises eight Learning Area, seven General Capabilities and three Cross-Curricular Priorities. Our teachers collaboratively plan how best to teach this curriculum to ensure all students have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning and achievement.
Each year, we teach, assess and report on English, Mathematics, Science, HASS (History and Social Sciences), Technologies, The Arts, Languages and HPE (Health and Physical Education). Students with interest and aptitude may also learn instrumental music.
Class teachers, specialist teachers and teacher aides work in teams to provide differentiated and targeted learning. Classroom teaching is augmented with a carefully considered incursion and excursion program.
