Durack State School is very multicultural, where there are many shared languages amongst our students. Having a common language with other students is very supportive and we recognise this as a way to reduce student levels of uncertainty.
Our school has a strong sense of belonging. We talk to the children about being ‘Durack Dragons – Safe, Respectful, Learners’. Going around the school you will see many murals depicting our dragon.
Our school believes that all students can make good choices and that these need to be celebrated. As a result we organise celebration events twice a term. Activities are wide ranging, examples include:
- Scooter boards
- Martial arts
- Bouncy castle
- Invited performers
