We invite parents and caregivers together with their young children aged from 0-4 to come and enjoy our free playgroup every Wednesday (except school holidays) from 9:00-10:30am in the school hall. There is plenty of direct parking available in the hall area and the space provides easy pram access as well as nappy change facilities. The sessions are conducted by an Early Childhood Teacher who also works as a Prep Teacher at the school.

We have various indoor and outdoor activities where children can interact and play with other children.  It is also a great opportunity for parents to meet and chat to other parents and become familiar and comfortable with the school setting.  Parents and children of all different first language backgrounds are encouraged to participate in this English-speaking playgroup.

Come along and join in the fun! Children will have a blast playing with other children.  We can't wait to see you there!

Mrs Slater

Dazzling Dragons Playgroup at Durack SS

We invite parents and caregivers together with their young children aged from 0-5 years to come and enjoy our free playgroup every Wednesday (except school holidays) from 9:00-10:30am in the Outdoor Learning Area (OLA). The area is fully fenced with a lockable gate to ensure our little visitors are safe. There is plenty of parking available in the hall area with easy pram access as well as nappy change facilities. Our Playgroup is available to everyone and families who attend our service do not have to later enrol in our school, although they are welcome to.  We are affiliated with Play matters. For more information about what they do and lists of other play experiences options for your family, go to https://playmatters.org.au/.

About our Playgroup

The sessions are led by an Early Childhood Teacher, Mrs Aleena Slater who also works as a Prep Teacher at the school. Mrs Slater is joined by Teacher Aide Ms Nimo Muse Abdi who is a well-respected cultural member of our local community.  We offer creative, sensory and active play experiences for babies, toddlers, pre-prep and kindy aged children in a warm, friendly and nurturing environment.  Our Playgroup Plan uses Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and promotes early fine motor, gross motor, literacy, numeracy and social skill development. We often work with community partners to provide extra services within our Playgroup Program that further support families using the service.  It is also a great opportunity for parents to meet and chat to other parents and become familiar and comfortable with the school setting.  Parents and children of all different first language backgrounds are encouraged to participate in this English-speaking playgroup. Our Playgroup is very large with over 40 families using the service regularly. Everybody is welcome at Dazzling dragons!  Come along and join in the fun!
