Deadly Choices

As part of the official launch for Deadly Choices, on 25th June 2021, Durack State School welcomes Frist Nations students from all over South-East Queensland, for Traditional Indigenous Games,. Each session the students learn about different Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander words cultural artefacts and stores that connect children to culture.  Some of the games include Kolap, Goori and Thipan.

The program is a vehicle to strengthen cultural identity and promote health and wellbeing of Indigenous children.

The Deadly Choices program has been running at Durack State School covering identify, hygiene, oral health, nutrition, effective of passive smoking for Prep to Year 3 students all term.

Some special guests included​ Rhonda Purcell, Gavin Badger, Willie Tonga, Willie Mason, Preston Campbell, Brenton Bowen, Steve Renouf, Uncle Craig and Aunty Berryl.
